Boyfriend Birthday Ideas

Romantic, Inexpensive Boyfriend Birthday Ideas That Even The Party Shy Can Pull Off

One of the most romantic boyfriend birthday ideas ever is the weeklong birthday.  Each of the seven days you give your love a new experience or gift.  The seven things can be just about anything, but make it a surprise each day, acting as if the prior days’ was the last. Be sure to build from a minor item like a sweet card, to big ones like a major trip or concert, or expensive gift.

For each day of the week, the items can be small, inexpensive, especially if you give of yourself rather than giving material things. You could give a car wash, homemade gourmet meal, or surprise him at work and take him to his favorite lunch spot. If he is one of those work-a-holics, you can deliver a special carry out lunch to his desk.

If you shower your love with a dinner, include all the extras; table cloth, flowers as a center piece, the best dishes and silver, chilled glasses and candles.

If he is a partying guy, he may not appreciate the candlelight dinner.  Remember, it isn’t about what you like, but what he likes. If monster trucks are his thing, get tickets to the derby. If he loves nothing more than hanging with his friends, take him to their favorite hang out, where you have pre-arranged for them all to gather, and make it a surprise.

When you set up a surprise of this type, let the invitees know that gifts are not the purpose of this event; the value to your boyfriend is just being there, having some beers and a few laughs.  Let the gift giving be your purview.  The exception is if some of his friends decide on their own to bring gifts.

There are as many boyfriend birthday ideas as there are boyfriends.  But the one that seems to come to mind most often is the home surprise party.

If a surprise party or other gathering is in your plans, designate some romantic alone time, after the crowd is gone, or the following day.  Strolling hand in hand along the beach or a nature area is a good idea.  Don’t let your guy fool you, they like quiet romantic times as much as us girls.

If you are new at throwing parties, a surprise party can be a little tricky.  The key points to consider are:

  1. Invite only the sincere, not just bodies, and invite those who can keep a secret.  That said, invite enough people to account for no shows or cancelations. You need at least 7 to 10 for a decent surprise.

  2. Coordinate the arrival time of guests and your boyfriend so they don’t overlap. Tell each guest if they cannot arrive at the prescribed time, to wait an hour, so they don’t show up the same time as your boyfriend and spoil the surprise.

  3. The guests should gather ½ hour before your boyfriend is scheduled to appear.

  4. Keep food and decorations simple if you are short of time. Put the effort into getting everyone there, having good drinks and snacks, and if necessary forgo elaborate meals and complex theme events.

If these boyfriend birthday ideas are not your cup of tea, let them be a motivator to come up with something better matched to you, your boyfriend, and his friends.
